Making new plans

Sorry that I have not posted in a while.  

I have had a lot of decisions to make. 

A while back I mentioned that I would be working with 

a group called Molly's Babies.  I love doing anything

to help a child.  Just has I had a box ready to send to her,  

she posted on Facebook that she would not longer be accepting items.

She has decided to give up the charity.  I offered to take it over for her

but she wanted some one close by.

I had a box with baby quilts and afghans,  booties

and bibs, some teddy bears and some dolls.

So now I wondered what to do with them all.

My husband and I talked a lot about what we should do.

We decided to start our own group to help children!

We brainstormed ideas and names with friends.  After a

few days Operation Cuddle Buddy was born!!!

Once we started talking with friends,  the idea took 

on a life of its own;  and it grew quickly!

We will be collecting gently used dolls and teddy bears

and making them new again.  Then they will go to children who have no toy.

Maybe they have been through a tragedy,  such as a fire or flood.  

Maybe they have never had a toy of their own. We will do our best to fill the need.

Donations have already started coming in and we will document everything and keep you posted.

If you have doll or teddy bear related items to donate,

we would sure appreciate it.

A sign of spring

Wonderful Easter breakfast this morning.

There was a sign of spring on each table.

Sunday snowstorm

This past Sunday we got 12.2 inches of snow.

New clothes for baby Sue

Most of you know how much I love making cloth dolls.

But I also love making new clothes for much loved dolls.

A few weeks ago I had someone contact me about

making clothes for a baby doll.

This is baby Sue

Baby Sue was made by Effanbee in 1980.

She is now the favorite doll of a very special three year old.

Baby Sue only had one outfit,

the one she came in so many years ago.

It was time for a change!

So Baby Sue spent a week with me 

and went back to her mom a changed girl!

Snow storm NEMO

We just got a BIG snow storm.

These are pictures showing the last three days.

These were taken from our back steps.

We ended up with 31.9 inches of new snow!!

My surprise find!!!

 This is Tommy.

Tommy was made from a pattern by Carolee Creations.
He is not for sale,  he stays with me.

But I wanted to share something I found out yesterday!!!

Tommy is about eighteen inches tall,

but he has very chubby feet! 

They are perfect for him,  but they are chubby.

Because of the shape of his feet,  

it is hard to find shoes for him. 

The pattern has directions to make him some shoes,

but I have never been a fan of shoes made from felt.

Yesterday is was sitting,  chatting with a teddy bear,

I looked over at them a couple of times and then,

I realized that their feet looked the same size!!

So I tried a pair of teddy bear shoes on Tommy

and they fit perfectly!

And he can stand in them.

He loves them.

The sneakers are from the Build A Bear Workshop.

And he also got a new ball cap.

I only had to sew up the teddy bear ear holes. 

Tommy has a sister named Nancy and now she wants new shoes!

I didn't have any here to fit her, 

so she will need to go on a shipping trip.

I still have gifts to finish and decorating to do.

We don't even have a tree up yet.
