Today's finish

Some years ago we did a trade show to try to get some shops to carry our dolls. This was one of the designs we offered.  It is a simple doll,  about 20 inches tall.  I found six of them in a box,  faces done; ready to sew together. I finished these two today.

These are great dolls for toddlers.  Good size to hug and all child safe.  I have four more to finish.

Susie Scarecrow

Meet Susie Scarecrow.  She is the oldest daughter of Sam and Sally Scarecrow. She is also Sonny's twin sister. They love to do everything together.

These were made from the Scarecrow Family pattern by Jean Greenhowe. Did I mention that I love her patterns!!  Bet I did!

For now the rest of the Scarecrow family is on hold. Now that my Chemo has been tweaked enough that I don't get sick,  I need to sew for the big craft show I have in August.  Usually by this time I have totes full of things ready.  Not this year!  I really need to get busy or I will be sitting in a empty booth for four days.  Sonny and Susie will have to wait for the rest of their family to join them.

Thrift store find

I like things that are different!  This was a thrift store find from a while back.  I don't think she is anything special,  but at $1.50 I liked the look!  Sorry the picture is not better.  My camera is not working wll and I have been using my tablet to take pictures!

Meet Sonny Scarecrow

Remember when I told you that I had fallen in love with the Jean Greenhowe patterns!  Well,  this is my latest one.  This is Sonny Scarecrow.  He is the only son of Sam and Sally Scarecrow.  I absolutely love him!

He was made from the Scarecrow Family pattern.  I am working on his twin sister Susie now and plan to do the whole family.

This is the last doll for a while,  I have chemo tomorrow and then I will have at least one "down" week.

Another little girl

Meet Gracie.  She was made from the same pattern as Faith.

Here are the two of them together.

A new little girl

Meet Faith

This little girl was made from a Carolee Creations/Sew Sweet pattern called Faith, Hope and Gracie.  I did make a few changes!  She was supposed to have bead eyes,  but I embroidered them. She was supposed to have craft fur hair,  but I like the yarn look on her.

She has a nice long yellow pony tail.
When I was working on her,  I kept thinking  "she looks like someone,  but who".  Then it hit me.  She looks like Edith,  The Lonely Doll.   I didn't do her that way on purpose,  but that is who she came out like.  What do you think?

New baby doll

Yes,  it is really me!  The last few days have been better so I have done some sewing. I have lots of dolls cut out and decided to finish one of them.

Here she is----------

She is a Baby Squeeze-Me made from a Carolee Creations/So Sweet pattern.  This pattern is still one of my all time favorites. It was the first Carolee pattern I ever used and over the years I have made hundreds of them.  This one is on Etsy.

I want to thank those who have sent me good wishes and asked when I would be posting again.  I promise to try to do better.  I may not post every day,  but I will post more often.  Thank you all.

What is going on in my world

I have had a lot of people asking me why my BLOG posts have dropped off.  I decided it is time to tell everyone.  Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with Cancer.   Now don't start saying how sorry you are!
I am dealing with the fact that I have it, but it is a lot to deal with.

It is stage 2A cancer.   Next week I start 12 weeks of Chemo.  Then I will have 6 weeks of Radiation Therapy.   We have been to two and three appointments each day and things will get busier.  Because of this,  I have not had as much time to sew.  This accounts for the few Blog posts.

BUT,  I have been doing something!
I just made these-------
The bunny and one of the ducks went into an Easter basket for my mom.  She says she never had an Easter basket before!  The duck with the blue hat is for someone else.   These are both made from a Jean Greenhowe pattern.

Then I made this for me-----

This is Candy.  She was made from a free pattern that I found on-line,  but right now I can't remember where I found it,  sorry.  I love the way she turned out.  She will be my companion as I go through the Cancer treatments.

So,  now you know all about what is going on in my world!  I will post when I can.

More Rainbow babies

Can you tell that I love this pattern?  This is a free pattern by Jean Greenhowe.  So far I have made six of these,  three have already gone to new homes. I have another one mostly finished.

Meet Abby

It is very rare that I watch television,  but one of my favorite programs is NCIS.  I especially like the character of Abby,  played by Pauley Perrette.  I think she makes the whole show!

Back before I started all of the special orders,  I had this doll started.  This is MY version of Abby.

I have had a few people ask me where all of the special orders dolls went.  Most of them went to Ohio to live in Hittyville.   You can read the storyline here.  She has given the dolls personalities and did a wonderful job bringing them to life!

Final finish

This is the final set of dolls for the special order.  This time the customer wanted three boys, all dressed differently.  I don't enjoy making boy dolls  (or men) so it was hard to come up with three different looks.

I have been extremely thankful for the special orders I got over the winter.  But I doubt I will ever take on so many dolls again! It became very stressful for me,  especially with so many boys to be made.  In the future I will take orders one at a time!

Now I can move on the some dolls I have had started for a while.

Another knitted doll

Today I finished another baby doll.  This time I used the right size needles and the baby came out smaller than the first one,  but just as cute!  I hope to have a variety of these made before my next craft show.   The first baby went to live with a little boy!  This one is lavender,  but looks blue.
