Doll shoes

As most of you know,  I love to make cloth dolls.  There was a time when I could find the shoes I needed for the dolls at a number of different locations.  But that is not the case anymore. It is hard to find the right shoes anywhere.  So I decided to make them myself!

The following shoes all started from one pattern.  The more shoes I make,  the more ideas I got for styles.

Meet the Apple family

Recently a doll friend contacted me to make her a cloth doll family.  Since I love making cloth dolls,  I said yes.  Now I want you to meet the Apple family.

This is Mac

And his wife Virginia

Their older daughter Goldie

Their only son Davey

And their youngest daughter Honey

This family is now traveling to Hittyville.   I sort of hated to see them go.

Two little elves

A customer asked me to make little elves dressed for Christmas.  These are the two I made. They are about five inches tall. They are made from a Carolee pattern.

If she doesn't like them,  I will take them to the Christmas craft show.

Meet Holly

Today I finished the first Christmas doll for this season!
This is Holly. She stands about ten inches tall and is made from the same pattern as the last doll I posted a picture of.

She is much cuter in person.
Holly was made from a Carolee/SewSweet Dolls pattern.
She is for sale on Etsy, if anyone is interested.
I also have more pictures.

Making a wig cap

When I learned to crochet it was because of Beth at By Hook, By Hand.
One of the things she teaches is how to make a wig cap.
I had made a couple of them to go on crochet dolls, but had not tried one for a cloth doll. Until now! I had an order for a doll and wanted to try the wig cap out. It came out great!!

This is the finished doll. I love the way she came out
and I hope the woman is happy with her.

Today's finish

When our power went out, I was working on a special order.
While we had no electric, I couldn't work on them.
But today they were finished and ready to travel to their new home.

Sunny day

Gretchen went for a walk around the yard today.
She heard that there is a hurricane headed our way
and she wanted to see what the yard looked like.

Everything seemed fine.
She did find a cracked mushroom.

She felt the sun on her face.

Paprika's new friend

Meet Dusty
She is Paprika's new friend

Wake up and meet the world.

They are cute together.

This second cat was made from the same pattern as Paprika.
I just used a smaller hook. The pattern calls for stuffing pellets in the body to make them sit nicely. With Paprika, the crochet was to open and I ended up making a cloth bag to put the pellets in. With Dusty, I didn't need to make the bag. It worked out great.

A new book

When this year started, I was not able to crochet at all. Then I fell in love with the Amigurumi dolls on Beth 's blog, By Hook, By Hand. Once I taught myself to do basic crochet I went looking for other patterns. I found some really cute patterns, but they were in Japanese. I tried to figure them out, but couldn't. I was in Border's last week and I found this book-------

This book has some of the cutest stories all about this cat named Amineko.
And the pattern is included, in English!!

Meet Paprika!
He is my first, but will not be my last Amineko.

"Paprika, take off those glasses so people see your eyes!"

"Okay, now sit up!"

"Oh, now you look bored!"

This is a fun pattern.
I plan to make lots more to go with the dolls I am making.
